My name is Marcia Stein {please click here for my business website} and I am in a group of a Human Resources professionals interested in growth and development in our field. Our dinners began with 14 women in January 1997 and has grown to a mailing list with around 1,500 women. As a result of our volunteer work, in 2005 I received the Partners in HR Innovation Award from the HR Symposium. Please click here to read more about it.

In February 2003, we had a community event about finding alternatives to COBRA for the unemployed and underemployed. I am calling attention to unemployment and underemployment and the ravaging effects on our economy.
Our group is comprised of women working in the field of Human Resources in the Silicon Valley. We have a team of volunteers planning our schedule of events, finding locations, speakers and making it all work. We have monthly dinners to network, mentor and be mentored. We have over 1,500 women on the mailing list and our Bulletin Board is the most visited page on our site. In 1999 we enriched our group by offering specified events open to all women in our community. For specified events, we include our male colleagues. These talks are infrequent and we will notify you of the next open event.
Attendance at our events varies depending on the topic. Our members qualified for discounted rates at the 2002 through 2008 HR Symposium, the 2005 Women In Business Conference, the 2004 and 2005 Future of Work Conference, and the 2002 and 2006 WITI Conferences in San Jose. We had a discount for the 2005 The Women's Expo, and profits benefited the Career Closet. We have also offered discounts for the Tova Yaron Day Spa and "Menopause the Musical". Laura Browne, a member of our group now living in Arizona, provided a free teleconference and a discount for her book, “Why Can't You Communicate Like Me? How Smart Women Get Results At Work". Frostianne Sewell, of Frostianne's Simple Organizing Solutions offered an extra hour free for her service. The University of Phoenix offered our group a free registration with class sign-up. Grace Gaddi's company www.shutterfly.com offered a discount. We had a discount through www.1800flowers.com. Darlene Forsythe-Beacham is a Mary Kay representative and she has offered us discounts. Krista Henley, the Director of the South Bay OD Network Organization offered our group a discount to their 2006 conference. Amy Shaheen in a See's Candy Account Representative and offered us a group discount. She works with many companies to offer corporate discount packages. {If you’re interested in contacting her for your company, her number is 408-292-7076.} Jo Miller, the CEO of Women's Leadership Coaching invited members to a sneak preview of the new seminar 'Poised for Leadership'. A discount and pre-show event was offered by Amy Provenzano of TheatreWorks in Mountain View. Veena Viswanath of Iris Embroidery offered a free monogram per garment with the purchase of a garment from her company. The 2nd Annual HR Week WestTM Conference & Expo and HR Management SolutionsTM and HRO WorldTM Conference provided a discount for us. Janet B. MacAulay, the President/CEO of Chrysalis Consulting Services, LLC posted an event on our bulletin board with a discount to our members. Jo Miller discounted her webinar series titled Roadmap for the Emerging Leader. The Melita Group and Hopkins & Carley discounted a learning event. Audrey Wong represented Weekenders and provided discounts.
